Hometown: Antigua, Guatemala

Dancer: Jazzy began his dance career at the age of five at his parents' dance school, where he received training in jazz, contemporary, ballet, break dance, hip hop, Latin jazz, flamenco and other Latin dances such as salsa, cha-cha-cha, mambo, Afro-Cuban and show dance.

Jazzy began his dance career at the age of 5 at his parents' dance school, where he received general basic training in jazz, contemporary, ballet, break dance, hip hop, Latin jazz, flamenco and other Latin dances such as salsa, cha-cha-cha, mambo, Afro-Cuban and show dance.

Inspired by his family's artistic heritage, he began his work as an instructor at the age of 15 at his family's dance school, and also at other cultural centres and prestigious institutions.

After completing his education in Guatemala, Jazzy moved to Norway in 1999 to continue his dance education. He attended "Den Norske Balletthøyskole" (The Norwegian College of Dance) in Oslo, and in 2003 he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Dance with specialization in Education. Jazzy also studied in Cuba, at the “Ballett National de Cuba of Alicia Alonzo” and the prestigious " Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba". There he received training in classical ballet, modern dance, folkloric and popular Cuban dance forms.

In 2001, Jazzy started his own dance school in Oslo, where he began his work as a dance instructor, with specialization in Latin dance. He has had the opportunity to work with some of the world's best event organizers, dancers, artists and orchestras within the salsa scene. Jazzy has also won several competitions around the world and he is today the co-owner of Salsa Kompaniet.

Jazzy has worked and participated in many TV productions, dance documentaries, magazine articles and radio programs in both Latin America and all over Europe. In Norway, he has choreographed salsa for the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance?” for three consecutive seasons and has also been a guest choreographer on TV2´s “Skal Vi Danse”. (Shall We Dance)

Dance background:
Jazz ballet, modern dance, classical ballet, flamenco, tap dance, cabaret, various folkloric dance forms, hip hop, break dance, sports dance (standard and Latin), disco, Latin hustle, tango, salsa (Cuban, NY style & LA style).

Other interests: Music, percussion, choreography, film and photography, travels, and contact sports including capoeira, shoto khan and aikido.
